Are Pharmaceutical companies evil?
March 10th, 2010 Posted in portal.juzhang.com | editUnfortunately, this *Sometimes* causes these companies to overlook things that would cause them to lose money and to put drugs on the market that are neither safe nor effective for the problem they are marketed for. Note that I did not say always, I said sometimes.
Some people complain about the supposed unreliability of herbal meds and various other complaints against them -- well, it is not the herbal medicine that is ineffective or dangerous, it is the fact that the pharmaceutical companies cannot make money from them that causes them to spread this disinformation. You can buy fake pharmaceuticals on line but that doesn't mean that pharmaceuticals in general are not standardized amounts or that you don't know what is in them.
I am a naturopath and as such I make sure that the herbs and supplements that I give to my patients are standardized to have a specific amount of active ingredient in them and I know exactly how much I am telling my patients to take, so I don't have to worry that they don't know what they are getting.
Herbal medicines have been around for thousands of years and have been safety tested and tested for effectiveness all this time.
