How to make a negative print?

March 11th, 2010 Posted in portal.juzhang.com | edit
  • Hey all,

I use film and was wondering what the best methods were to make a print that looks identical to the negative. I've only done this once (a long time ago) and it involved laying two pieces of photo paper on top of each other. Any insight would be wonderful!

  • Also, inevitably the second print from the paper negative will have lowered contrast.

  • just be sure that the paper you use doesn't have a logo on the backside

  • You cannot contact print from paper to paper. You can only contact print from film to paper.

Really the only way to do this is with a copy/process setup, where you essentially photograph the print.

  • Your memory might be fooling you.
You can make a print on paper, develop, fix, wash dry.
Then use it as a negative to make a contact print on another piece of paper.

  • must take forever...I'd just turn the lights on.

  • You can also use a positive b/w film as your negative to make a negative print, Or take an already exposed negative, dupe it to negative film creating a positive negative if you will, then use that film and make your negative print from it.
